To be fair, in the US anyway, subways are also unfathomably expensive. But if you can do cost efficient tunnel construction, yeah you seem like you’d be way better off using it for public transit.

Jokes need to have some rudimentary foundation in reality to better joke would have been to recognize the objectively FAR more appealing option of riding in your own vehicle instead of being crammed in to a filthy room with hundreds of other people, but make dun of the ridiculous cost and complexity of the project.

The problem, I suspect, is that the person who posted wasn’t trying to be funny but instead was trying to make a low effort bash at Elon  Musk which just falls flat on its face.

All the Tesla tunnel thing does is make traffic jams underground. If single lane tunnels was an efficient way to use cars we would be doing it already. Underground trains are far more efficient way of transporting people.

The idea of single-width tunnels for cars as a solution to, well, fucking anything is patently stupid on its face. all you’ve done is put a low-capacity road underground and made it a lot harder to access when things go wrong.

but go ahead and keep worshiping that billionaire.  Just because he has an idea doesn’t make it a good one, and licking his boots won’t make you rich.
